Things have been a bit quiet on this blog for a while, but there are reasons. One of them is that we have followed the guy in the photo above and taken to the wings.
We have had the opportunity to look at an ancient volcano - and almost stopped in our tracks by a new one.
We have seen some traditional red phone booths - almost a rarity in these days of the mobile phone.
The city were we stayed is famous for its castle, and as you can see it used to be heavily armed.
The country is in the middle of a vibrant discussion that is to be settled by a referendum shortly.
By now you should know where we have been. The locals are extremely friendly to visitors, and even have Day Care Centres that take good care of husbands tired of shopping - and the wives too.
Have nice week!

Terrific captures as always, Rune, and I do love that sign!! How fun! Thanks for sharing! Hope you have a great new week! Enjoy!!
Great adventures!
:)
love the gull peeping over the wall - Have seen those husband day care centre signs before - all the rage they are - so good that you had a grand time in Edinburgh.
All shopping centres should have these centres - it will be interesting to see which way they vote.
Edinburgh er en meget fotogen by, det bevises godt med bildene dine her!
Thanks for the tour! Nice shots. By the way, can one row from Bergen to Scotland? I thought I might try it as a retirement activity.
Excellent shots. Your vacation photos are worth posting.
I love Edinburgh...all the medieval-ness of it :) The Georgian side of town, not so much :)
It's good to get away but I'm glad you're back. I love the idea of a day-care centre for husbands. :)) Great Scottish humour!
Love the B&W with a pop of read. They had one of those husband day care centers in Ottawa, too ;-))
If everything goes right , I should be around there in a few weeks .Will say Hello to the guy for you !
:o)
Adventures are sooooo invigorating! Love that 'telephone booth' image.
Really enjoyed the guessing game! Brilliant photos - I love the gull peeping over the wall and the red phoneboxes against the monochrome backround. The Care sign is really amusing - I'd not seen one of those before!
I knew as soon as I saw the cannon. I have stood in that spot! I hope you took advantage of the day care haha. Love the cheeky seagull photo.
Oh these are wonderful photos -- everyone of them! I got a big smile out of the husband day care sign. -- barbara

Flott utvalg, moro å se bilder fra andres opplevelser!
Klem I
As usual, beautifully clear and crystal sharp photos. How do you do it? When I compress to put on blog I always loose sharpness :(
Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you!
for your tip re using png photos rather than jpeg. My current posted shot is perhaps the sharpest photo I have ever used, and it's neon! Thanks again.
I was there 2 weeks ago.....Very nice town. Best regards from Italy.
Gorgeous photos!
I would love to see these things in person. In the mean time, I visit through your posts.
Edinburgh is a very enjoyable city to visit. There are so many things to see and do.
