I found this photo while I was searching my hard-disk for something else. I thought it had a certain pre-colour atmosphere, so I converted it to B & W.

It looks really good in B/W, full of 1940's atmosphere. But the Dalai Lama as a music hall act.....??
Such a value range...very cool. Reversed-out lettering, art deco styling
That is a super mono shot - you should link it to the "Weekend in Black&White" meme.
I thought you had stopped posting . . . nothing has come up from you on my blog list in ages. But you are still here. And I only realised because you left a comment on Hyde Daily Photo so I came hurrying over to see. And you've been here all along. Yours is one of my favourite blogs so I've been catching up on some of the photos I've missed and enjoying them immensely. There seems to be a change in style. Can that be?
I saw geese arriving and wheeling over our local wetland a week ago. Don't know what they were but it reminded me of you. I expect Brent Geese will be arriving from Norway soon - if they're not already here. Will have to go and see. Though ours may come from Russia. I'm not sufficiently knowledgeable about migration patterns to be certain.
Best Wishes
Lucy
Lovely post, so nice to visit your blog!
Herlig innlegg, alltid en fornøyelse å besøke bloggen din, RuneE!
That's amazing that you captured this with only one person in the image. The lettering in the sign is awesome.
This photo is quite effective in B&W.
I saw the Dalai Lam in person a few years ago in Toronto and it was an awesome experience. Thank you for the memory.
I agree.
This photo lends itself to black and white very nicely...
I just commented by James and I think I can say same thing: add some jazz, and we'll believe to be in Woody Allen's movies "Radio days" or "Broadway Danny Rose" !Love that mood very much, and your picture is perfect in B&W !
Have a nice week-end!
Where was this; I have a shot of Radio City in NYC, but it is not the same as yours. Must post in the next couple of days and you can compare - though mine is colour.
It is amazing indeed that there is only one person in this shot!! Almost unheard of in NYC!! Terrific capture, Rune! Hope you have a great weekend!!
Nice :)
Veldig fint i sort/hvitt.
God helg :)
Of course I haven't seen the color version, but I like your decision to go with black and white. And I agree with Sylvia--it adds a lot to have that one, and only one, person in the shot, and I like his position in the photo--anything like dead center would have been wrong.
How splendid -- everything clicks in this photo -- black and white suits it just fine -- barbara
It certainly works in b/w.
Enig! likte det jeg også, for det ser å liksom så avstengt ut, som om alle.... lytter til radio kanskje :-)
Eit flott s/k bilde med atmosfære:)
What a fantastic photo! You're right, it looks positively vintage!
Rett og slett tøft i sort/hvitt!
