Last week I had to go to Oslo (the Norwegian capital city) for some days. King Winter had not lost his grip there; a fact that was made very clear to me when I waited in the plane for take-off on my way home. A hoard of yellow ants crawled across the runway trying to clear away the falling snow.
Even a red Giraffe joined in the fun.
It's job was to de-ice the wings.
These modern animals obviously did their job well - I got safely home.

The red giraffe is a very important part of the food chain ;-)
Amazing...as it would have stumped the authorities on any forecourt in England!!! and it's snowing a bit here almost every day!!!
wonderful creatures - you know how to deal with such things in your country.
Please keep the snow.j
What a fun way to start my day, Rune!! You do have some colorful, helpful "critters" in your world!! I'm so glad you got home safely -- thanks to them!! Hope your week is going well!!
I know well these animals. Bye bye from Italy.
Du bare elsker!!! alt som har med slike kraner å gjøre du Rune :-)
Fabulous animal shots! I always enjoy your take on what you see :)
Store leiketøy dette ;) Men fine bilder. Og vinteren kan dei gjerne få lov til å dra sin veg no ;)
Those are some big ants! And the last time an aircraft, snow and I were at the same spot, the giraffe riders did not have an enclosed cab.
As for our winters here, the snow is hit and miss. The last BIG snow was winter 2009/10.
Your analogies are perfect. Do like the snowy tarmac scenes but it would give me pause to fly. -- barbara
Herlige bilder! Mye slit når værgudene slår seg vrang!
Ha en flott kveld og flott påske!
welcome home!
Ooh - I've never seen an ice-clearing giraffe before!! I must suggest to the local council that we get some in the UK ... I'll be interested to see what other giraffes you have in Norway too! :)
Good animal metaphors, esp. the giraffe. I wonder if most folks in climates like yours get sick of the snow and cold--or are most so accustomed to it that it doesn't get much thought?
The weather there looks a bit nasty. Ah, but today is spring equinox!
I've decided that the more we mimic nature, the better off we will all be!
Wonderful my friend.
Tis also -oslo- A beautiful city.

I'm freezing looking at these photos. Stay warm. Happy weekend.
I've seen your ants and red giraffe once on my adventures. Here we have to watch out for flocks of seagulls flying into the engines (it has happened!)
A wonderful element of fantasy in you, my dear RuneE. Yes, yellow ants and red giraffes are perfect.
I have never encountered such things. Glad I'm reading this AFTER you got home safely. phew
Your whimsical imagination aptly describes the equipment. The line of machines speaks volumes about the winter.
