Tall Ships on Parade

I promised some more photos from The Tall Ships Races in Bergen 2014. Here they are leaving in amid thunder and rain - the first rain for a very long time. Heading the fleet is Bergen's own "Statsraad Lehmkuhl".

Here is "Statsraad Lehmkuhl" accompanied by the Dutch "Gulden Leeuw".

"Statsraad Lehmkuhl" in lone splendour.

"Gulden Leeuw" got some technical problems and had to return to port. It is passed by a Dutch colleague.

The Danish full rigged ship ship "Georg Stage".

The Norwegian full rigged ship "Sørlandet"

The Norwegian full rigged ship "Christian Radich" and a Swedish rwo-masted vessel.

And finally three ships that all had got their sails up and making a colourful exit.

Grace and beauty! I'm sure I'd want the modern comforts, but these are gorgeous to look at.

That is quite a flotilla - must have been wonderful to see - hope you were suitably attired for the weather.

It's like a dreamworld for me . . .

Looks a little chaotic at the start of the race. It's hard to imagine people would sail around the globe in these ships!

Flott bildeserie, RuneE! Jeg gleder meg til at Trondheim skal delta i TSR. Sist var i 1997!
Hva slags linse har du brukt her?

(i dag var det vanskelig å komme inn på bloggen din..)

God helg til deg!

Beautiful! I love them all, as well as the modern cruiser in some of the shots ;)

Fantastic to see these old ships still sailing. Just like the plastic models I used to construct as a boy!

They are real personalities and with sails up, who can resist loving them! :) Fantastic parade.

Litt av en samling du har fått med deg på disse bildene. Staselige og vakre alle sammen, selv om det er enkelte som peker seg ut!

Fortsatt god helg, Rune!

You had a fantastic viewing seat for these sailing ships! I have seen a couple of them when they visited Washington, DC. Thanks for sharing.

I know I commented on this post! Oh well...

Beautiful scenes and gorgeous photos of them. The tall ships come into our local harbor (Dana Point) and I've seen the "Georg Stage" there before. I love the history of it all. Very good post.

Tall ships are what brought me to your blog, Runee. Sometimes in the summer there is a tall ship on Lake Ontario as there was this year. I love them, and I'm tuned into your new website.
