Fiery Mountain

Yesterday we thought we had got a volcano across the fjord,

but it was a forest and grass fire climbing up the mountain side. Very spectacular to watch of course, but not too much fun for those living closer to it. If you wonder what the horizontal lines are, I can tell you that it is the lights from a helicopter assisting in the extinguishing of the fire. The exposure time was 30 seconds.

Yellow Ants and a Red Giraffe

Last week I had to go to Oslo (the Norwegian capital city) for some days. King Winter had not lost his grip there; a fact that was made very clear to me when I waited in the plane for take-off on my way home. A hoard of yellow ants crawled across the runway trying to clear away the falling snow.

Even a red Giraffe joined in the fun.

It's job was to de-ice the wings.

These modern animals obviously did their job well - I got safely home.
