Visiting Spain

It has been a bit quiet around here lately, once more. But I still have my excuses: I have been busy, and I have been away. This time it has been a strictly family holiday to the Spanish island Grand Canaria, one of The Canary Islands. Therefore 95% of the photos I shot were meant for the family album. But one or two may still have a more general interest.

Here are three very different boats an hour before sunset just outside the gates of "our" apartment.

Not all the people you meet carry cameras - some bring a whole canvas.

Some have found a veranda that suits them just fine.

And some are just hanging around.

And I couldn't resist showing the family's little princess enjoying herself in the sand.

Wonderful holiday photos. The boat scene is so serene, looking very inviting. How fun it is to vacation with grandkids to watch their joy in life. The grains of sand on her chubby little hands are so clear and detailed!

HAhahahaha, love your sense of humor :) I'm smiling. But the biggest smile of all was for the last picture of the princess...a baby will get me every time. She looks as beautiful as Prince George in his christening gown :)

I must say I love the little one playing in the sand -- like your shot of the hands sticky with sand. Nice to enjoy a family vacation once in a while -- barbara

I like all of these--I've sometimes wished I had tried painting. But the final one of the kid is my favorite. I'm guessing you're protecting her anonymity, but it really is a more interesting shot without head and face. This gets more at the essence of being a kid that age, and it's delightful. She looks busy attending to detail--reminds me of the boy across the street, about 3, who, all summer, studied bugs or worms or gravel or something in the sidewalk cracks, while his siblings were being more raucous.

Ah, that sand gets everywhere! Not much fun when it gets in the camera though. Lovely holiday photos and neat commentary.

Lovely! I went on such a holiday last year. I was so busy alternating between the beach and pool that the only photos I took were of the sea!!!

Lovely photos and I love the Canary Islands too! And the little princess photo really conveys that joyous new experience of getting sand all over one's hands when so very young and building sand castles!

How fortunate you were to visit the Canaries! Thank you for taking photos that were of interest to more than your family.
