Pneumonia

The photos above and beneath show what were my daily views for a couple of weeks - looking out the windows at the back and front of our local hospital. Some of you will know that I had a very successful heart transplant some years ago, a treatment that has given me an extended life which I enjoy very much. All thanks to an unknown donor and his/her family.

But there is always a small price to pay - I'm on life-long medication that leaves me vulnerable to infections, among other things. So this Christmas and New Year had to be celebrated in hospital. I had contracted pneumonia, and in a special form called Atypical Pneumonia. In some cases it is not so much dangerous as troublesome, but for patients like me it may be another matter. Luckily they seem to have found a treatment that works, so at the moment I'm home on a "trial basis", but I'll probably have to gobble antibiotics for quite some time.

For practical purposes I had pre-posted my Christmas post - with hindsight a very wise thing to do if you end up in hospital :-) On the other hand - I have not been able to thank all the nice people who have left me pleasant greetings. Therefore I'll use this opportunity to say to one and all: Thank you for the nice comments and

A Happy New Year!

That's you, taking pictures even from your hospital bed!

Be well, dear Runee! Your life is not an easy one but you do make it into a good life.

So sorry to hear you've been ill, really hope that's the end of the infection and you're out and about again soon. Glad to see the photo addiction carried on though - both are great shots but the evening one is my favourite with those twinkling lights. A very happy and healthy 2012 to you and yours xx

I'm sorry to hear that, RuneE. I hope you are coming along fine--in mind as well as body.

That second photo is a nice gift for us. Thank you. The first . . . is it written somewhere that hospitals must be unattractive AND look out at unattractive, monotonous things? I thought Norway might be different, more enlightened . . . :)

Take care, get well and keep your camera nearby! I hope you have a speedy recovery.

good to hear from you - I got nicely OK in time for Christmas so feel for you having to spend it in hospital - you'd be drummed out for using a camera in a UK hospital! - all the best for the new year.

I am so sorry that you had to stay in hospital during Christmas. But I am glad that you are home again. I do hope with you, that our personal lives are going to be without any nasty problems, and that nature and humanity keep their peace in 2012.
A peaceful and happy, healthy year, Rune!

The heart transplant is such an awesome miracle and I'm so glad it's working for you. The last time you had a bout in the hospital, I was stunned to learn about your transplant and your success at living with it as well as its problems. Take care, my friend. (I thought you'd gone on vacation. SOME vacation :) And Happy New Year!

I do hope that you can stay home now and not have to return to the hospital. You probably won't feel wonderful for quite a few days yet. Any type of pneumonia can be difficult to get over. My husband, Dick, and I don't have pneumonia but we certainly have caught some bad kind of bug that has left us coughing coughing coughing. I hope you don't have to end up doing that as it can really be exhausting. Take care and recover quickly!

Hej Rune.

Was just visiting iMac and saw his picture of you back home in Norway. Had never seen your picture before. And he told me about your pneumonia. He left a link and I popped over.

Your photography has always been top of the line as far as I am concerned so it was comforting to return to see it again.

I am still on oxygen 24/7 and that gets to be a burden sometimes. Otherwise am OK.

I was at Stewart's (Imac's) blog and saw the photograph of "the photographer," :)) (great shot, by the way).... so I wanted to visit you and let you know that I'm thinking of you and hope that you get to feeling better soon. Your photographs are splendid!! Take care of you...
Hugs,
Jackie

geeze,

i had a bout with pneumonia last May,
so i can appreciate what you've gone through.

glad you're pulling through
(like the old shoe).

your "hospital view" pic is not as limited as one would expect. smoke adds dynamism to any shot. :-)

?you see? and you caught it!
