Autumn Light

The autumn has formally arrived, at least according to the calendar. And with September comes the Autumn Light. The evening light gives colours that is almost unbelievable to people who are not used to them. I took these shots yesterday evening.

Above is one of our "sacred" mountains, Fløyen, basking in the evening sun.

This is our currently most famous ship, Hurtigruten's M/S Nordnorge, just leaving Bergen.

This is not a church, but what is known as Corps de Garde. The name is due to its former use as a watchtower for the local militia during the Napoleonic wars, and was built in 1794.

The church silhouetted against the sunlit clouds is called Nykirken - literally The New Church. However, it was initially built in 1621, but has been destroyed by fire and rebuilt a number of times. The last destruction was during ww2.

A nice week-end to all who passes by!

What wonderful pictures! what a fabulous mood here! my favorite is the one with the boat, mixing hope of the travel and nostalgy of the finishing day..The kind of pic I'd like to hang on my wall and dream about all day long..

Og aldri har jeg da sett Hurtigruta så flott.

Wonderful colours and shots. I like very much Norway. But the sun is always on the horizon in autumn?
Bye bye from Italy.

The color of the sky is amazing in that first shot. Your timing is very good because the color of the light in all these is really wonderful.

All beautiful images! The light turns quickly from white hot to golden warmth. Love the sun on hte ships hull and the clouds behind the church. As for our globe, it is titled "Ocean Mist".

Really like the second shot, the light on the bow makes the shot.

In all of these, the color and light are spectacular. As a complete picture, I think I like the church the best. Something about those colors and the composition is unusual, maybe unique.

Have been out with our motorhome so I have had to take a break from my own Norway posts; so nice to come back and see these beautiful fall scenes. I especially like the Corps de Garde in the golden light.

Hi Rune,
I am a dark skies and sunlight junkie and you captured that wonderful combination beautifully. I also love your misty autumn b&w. Nice work my friend.
