We will survive!

A young man, for reasons best know to himself, managed yesterday to blow up part of the central areas of Oslo and killing at least 7 people in the process. Soon after he managed to kill at least 84 youths at a political summer camp. This was an attack from a person belonging to the extreme right - an attack on the Norwegian democracy.

BUT WE WILL SURVIVE!

Solidarity in Norway is strong. It will continue to be so. Our thoughts now go to the the people killed, hurt and their families. My family and myself has not been been hit, but as Norwegians we have been.

I will thank those who have sent me personal condolences and all those who have sent their thoughts and condolences to Norway and all Norwegians. I ask for your understanding that this is not the time to post pretty pictures from Norway.

Dear Runee, you and all Norwegians are in our heart. Your picture of this black day in history is appropriate, and the words you have chosen are a source of light.

So relieved to know you and your family are OK. You came to mind immediately - we were thinking about you only this morning when we heard the news.

Dear Rune,
We are so grieved over this truly sad turn of events. I'm glad to know that you and yours are safe but understand perfectly that, as a Norwegian, you are changed on a deep level.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Norway. I'm happy to say that my family members there are still standing.

Yes, you will survive...Norwegian solidarity being what it is.

Det var veldig talende, det bildet du har i dag. Alt er jo egentlig svart på en slik dag. Men ja - vi skal stå på og gå videre!

I am relieved that you and your family are not affected by this brutal and meaningless political violence, terror and murder. I send all my sympathy, condolences and solidarity to all of you in our Norwegian sister country. We are many here in Denmark, who supports your struggle to uphold democracy, solidarity and freedom.

Where politics is currency, the innocent always get hurt.

This is an unspeakable horror, Rune. These violent means are appalling. Surely we, as humans, can do better.

Dear Rune,
Your black blank image speaks volumes. An image of mourning deeply felt for the senseless slaying of innocent people in a usually peaceful country. The world mourns with you and your fellow citizens, while we all try to comprehend how anyone could murder so many children and strangers. Lynn

Hi Rune: I am having some trouble signing in so you may get two messages from me. First I want to send sincere condolences, our prayers and concerns to you and all your fellow countrymen for this senseless tragedy. Such unspeakable evil. I was so glad to find that your family have not been directly involved in these circumstances. I have not visited your blog for a long while, but I will go back and read your recent ones from happier days. I thought you had stopped blogging so didn't visit. God bless the Norwegians and their beautiful country.

We keep Norway and its people in our hearts. The crackpot who was behind these horrific events is in no way representative of the great people we met during our brief visit to your country.
