Beating Back to Basics

I have just read the very touching post made by Denise Nesbitt of ABC-Wednesday. I haven't been around for a few months, but what can I do but take part again after all the nice words I have seen?

I will let the photo of this fisherman, Beating Back to Basics in his Boat, represent how we feel in Norway now: They may try to Beat us, but we will not Be Beaten. Love conquers all.

At the moment, the single most cited poem and song is "Til ungdommen (To the Youth)", by Nordahl Grieg. You will find lyrics (also in English) and a bit of background here. You will also find an excerpt of the memorial service in Oslo where this song was sung.

Today's post is an entry in round NINE of ABC Wednesday, the meme initiated by Denise Nesbitt. For more, you can log on via The ABC site.

I am so touched that you have taken the precious time to contribute to our humble ABC Wednesday. It has indeed been a journey since the early days - a journey of sharing the joys and tragedies which become part of our everyday little lives across the globe.
Our love, prayers and thoughts are with you all in Norway.

So True! Learning the basics of brotherhood and benevolence will help us to rise above the belittled thoughts.

Rune my friend I send my sincere sympathy to you and the people of Norway. There is no explanation for such a senseless act of terrorism. This has been compared to the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing by another lone zealot. As a resident of Oklahoma I share your pain.

What matters most is it is not natural for parents to bury their children. It is going to hurt a lng time.

My mother grew up in Ulefoss, my father in Dromman. I was born in America. And like so many Americans, I am with you, and your wonderfully all-inclusive society, in spirit and comfort. Best wishes.

Varm klem Rune.
