V is for Various Visual Vanities

In August 2009 I joined the local photo club "Bekkalokket", the second largest and one of the foremost photo clubs (not in any way due to me!) in Norway. Last Saturday we had our Pre-Christmas dinner, and the results for this autumn's contest were announced - and two of my photos had been accepted! I was in no way near winning a medal, but you must forgive me for hosting a bit of vanity.

"Windows" - in the Projection Class
Shot in the the city of Hania (Khania, Chania), Crete.

"Bucket" - in the Coloured Prints class
Shot in the the village of Agia Marina, Crete.

The Photo Club also supplies the photos for a yearly calendar sold by the Bergen branches of the Norwegian humanitarian organization "Natteravnene". The photo below was chosen for April 2011.

"Cille Gads Square"
Shot in Bergen

This autumn I also submitted four pictures to the International "Al Thani" Contest. The photo below was accepted in the General Digital Class.

"Bunker"
Shot in Bergen

I have shown a couple of these photos before, but I hope any visitor will forgive me :-)

Today's post is an Entry in round SEVEN of ABC Wednesday, the meme initiated by Denise Nesbitt. For more, you can log on via the ABC site.

Really like the colour in the second shot, the scooter and tree in the third. My own preference for the top shot would have been to crop it a little tighter so that the wall lamps top left and top right were not in the shot. Just a personal preference. And as a black &white fan, of course you are excused for including another bunker shot.

Så fine bilder Rune, et par av dem husker jeg, men et gjennsyn med dem var bare en glede å få. Så gøy at bildet skal være med i kalenderen :)Grattis med den og lykke til med de andre.

You hit a bonanza for pictures when you went to Crete last summer...those two are sizzling hot!!! Congratulations, Rune! And the bunker--chilling! The calendar shot is lovely too, perfect for April.
NO need to self-deprecate over vanity!

We are proud of you, Rune. So glad you share your work and that your beautiful photographs get well-deserved recognition.

That's no vanity, that's pride!(Ok, it does not match with the ABC..:)but proud you can be! My own favorite is the one for april (maybe because of the benches..?)but all are of high quality, and there's no wonder you were choosen!
So, congratulations!

I enjoy looking at your photos many times. You are very talented with a camera. These are excellent examples.

Rune! I can understand why your photos are chosen! They are exceptionally good. I told a Belgian photographer about your photos and he went to see your blog and agreed with me that they were good. I like the photo of Bergen. I think we were at exactly the same spot.
Thanks for sharing! Thanks for your visit and comment! "Starry night, starry night" is a good song for one of Vincent's paintings. Had he been treated for his mental disease, he would probably not been able to create such beautiful things. Tragic, isn't it?!

Hurra for deg. :-) Dette var moro. Aprilbilde ditt helt topp. Jeg digger den Vespaen og april er min måned. Kan det bli bedre?

I use my favourite photos of the year to make a small desk-top calendar (via vistaprint) I give out (or sell) to family, friends and colleagues. It contains the places I've been over the year. Seeing your photos, you could make an absolute fantastic one!

I agree with all the rest, you are a very talented photographer. The pictures tell a story all by themselves.

While the top picture is gorgeous, it's the bottom one that haunts me somehow.

Vakkert!

Ønsker deg en fortsatt fin adventstid,
fylt med fotoglede og gode dager.

Your work is always professional quality! My favorite (and it's hard to choose) has to be the photo shot in the square. The scooter next to the blooming white tree is a terrific shot.

imac said...

Grand shots my friend, love the square, seem to remember this - on the way back to the ship - I think, lol.

The Bucket is awesome. With these three colors the world is ready for all painters.
But have you seen the movie The Bucket list. If not do it or do it again

Wishing you happy holidays, and happy New Year 2011.

Can you tell I am a bit behind on getting to see the ABC posts? Better late than never!
These are all so wonderfully beautiful. The quality of light and composition in each one of them makes each one a precious jewel.

Oh thank you for the shots of Crete. Chania, one of my very favourite cities. What light, what colour! Terrific.
