"Hurtigruten" heading for Helios

The Norwegian passenger/cargo/cruise line called "Hurigruten" (The Norwegian Coastal Line) travels daily from Bergen in the south to Kirkenes in the north - that is, along most of the Norwegian Coast. In this case it is the ship "Nordnorge".

It leaves Bergen at 20.00 every evening, and if you are lucky, it heads (almost) straight into Helios.

A trip is highly recommended.

Today's post is an Entry in round SEVEN of ABC Wednesday, the meme initiated by Denise Nesbitt. For more, you can log on via the ABC site.

Stunning! Reminds me a bit of here on the west coast of Canada. I guess that's why we find lots of Norwegians here - reminds them of home. :D

You choice for the theme is great, I'm enchanted by so lovely pictures.I need to confess that I have a great fear about boats, mainly because I don't know how to swim! LOL I know...it's crazy! But I'm curious and I think this trip would be a fabulous adventure!
Again, congratulations for your beautiful pictures!

Your pictures make me want to visit Norway even more now. Half of my heritage is from Norway, where my great-grandparents were the first one's to come over to America. I love these pictures, you caught the light so beautifully...love your name too as I use "runes" ;)

Been to Bergen but on a Merchant Navy ship. It was around 21st June many years ago. Was lucky to see the Northern Lights at that time.
Lovely place Norway which you have captured beautifully here.
Hvae a great week!!

So, it's an ordinary ferry service? And it offers those views? Fantastic!

You have such a wonderfully subtle way of shooting. These photos make me wish I was on-board. And since I can't be, they're more than good enough to make me feel like a part of the scene.

What's that bridge? Looks like a huge suspension bridge, and it adds an additional element of travel and potential to the scene. Delightful!

That's a coincidence Rune! I have been trying to persuade one of my friends to do the Hurtigruten with me, but still no success. There might be a Danish friend who wants to join me. She was here recently and mentioned the Hurtigruten.Anyway your photos are very tempting! I would like to go before I am too old.
Thanks for your beautiful photos!

Her har du truffet blink. Virkelig vakre bilder. Du er heldig som bor slik til at du har den utsikten. Og vi er heldige som får se dine blinkskudd.

Although travel by ship is not my thing - I need dirt beneath my feet - your photographs are just glorious, Rune.

Helios brought to mind the line from the Moody Blues poem titled Late Lament. "Brave Helios wake up your steeds and bring the warmth the countryside needs.

Beautiful warm photos.

Leslie is right, it's a great deal like the west coast of Canada, but I don't think we have that true northern light.
I'm happy to have learned there is a place called Helios. In my working life I knew "Helios" as a typeface similar to Helvetica. I guess I must have missed the Moody Blues reference to Helios.
What a wonderful cruise. Your photos are beautiful.
Thank you for sharing them with us.

Nydelig.

Gorgeous photos, Rune -- but the cruise on the Hurtigruten is out of this world! I think the best we have been on. Anyone contemplating this cruise, forget that it is also a ferry, it is a cruise ship in the best sense of the word and a wonderful way to get the feel of Norway. If it weren't so far away I'd go again immediately! Great adventure! Thanks for the memories. Our cup of tea was a wonderful added bonus. Think of you often.

Smellfine bilder av Nordnorge i lav sol, de svingte innom oss i Geiranger også, hver dag til samme tid. Hadde vært en opplevelse å ta turen oppover en gang med en av dem.
