Majestic and magnificent - and well presented in B&W!

Happy Weekend Rune :-)

I do like the Monochrome version much better. I like the gradation of the sky in the background as well.

I was listening to the song St Elmo's Fire and I checked out its meaning. Apparently these tongues of flame appear on the tips of masts during a thunderstorm. I wonder if you have ever captured it? I would dearly love to see it. The youtube videos can't see clearly.

B&W is good, but the blue and white is stunning!

Contrast wins in both versions.

Fascinating how such shapes delight our eyes and take them for a walk round the picture.

Hi Rune! I prefer the blue sky... ;)

Blogtrotter 2 is missing your comments in the blue sky of Haiti. Enjoy and have a great weekend!!

That's a fantastic shot of the mast.

What a difference between the two shots - in the b&w I found myself focusing only on the form - the lines of the mast, while in the color version it was the sky that grabbed my eye and wouldn't let go.

Sailors are often believers and this mast is like a cross turned to the sky...

Gerald (Ackworth born) said...

intricate how they join the ropes - I had the same thoughts as Robin about the two version - now where is it the yard goes?

Ser ut som kors ... stilig i sort/hvitt!

Great shot!

This is really interesting because I've been telling myself for about a year, that color is really important to me. But the comparison of these two shots shows me that black and white can really give significance to an object. I definitely like the black and white version better. Your posts are always thought provoking!

Hey rune, what i like the most is the way you made such a simple composition to become a powerful image. I do like how it looks in BW. St. Thelmo´s fire?? I thought it was a myth.

The picture of the Caiman is extraordinary indeed!! Regards. =)

Wow! I need one of those to "row, row, row my boat". I mean, not to need to do it. Just sail away! :)

Majestätiskt. Snygga kontraster. Nästan lite överjordisk dimension eftersom det ser ut som ett kors. Föredrar S/V.
