E is for Entrance

Wikipedia says:

Entrance generally refers to the place of entering like a gate or door, or the permission to do so.
In this case it is the Entrance to Bergenhus Fortress, in Bergen. Parts of the Fortress date from 1240, but the picture was shot one late afternoon in December 2009.

Today's post is an entry in the SIXTH round of ABC Wednesday, the meme initiated by Denise Nesbitt. For more, you can log on via the MckLinky enabled site

I really do like the way this has come out. The hard, cold grey of the castle stones with the warm orange in the entrance and the colour of the street light. A really good shot

Dagrun said...

Så flott lys da. Like oppenfor der bodde jeg i noen år...:)

Oh, lovely shot. :)

What a wonderful shot! I love the way the lighting turns the entrance into orange! Love the old buildings! This country is so young we don't have any like this and it was one of the things, the history, that I loved so much about living in Europe. Hope you have a great week!

wonderful strong shapes and textures...for something so distant, there's a lovely intimacy in the cirle of light.

Dina said...

I would love to walk through that entrance.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we really did have photographs from 1240?

Varmt og vakkert lys,
i fin kontrast til omgivelsene.

Dette var en flott inngang:)

Heges fotoblogg said...

This is a very great entrance, beautiful with the orange colours. It really needs a photographer with talent to see this and take such a photo! Have a great day tomorrow, RuneE!

Det var flott å se hvordan du har fanget lyset der det er, stilig med den opplyste portalen!

The glowing light makes the entrance so inviting in this photo. Almost monochromatic. Lovely.

the warm glow of the light welcomes me to your house. I hope dinner and wine is ready. LOL

came via Dina's site,

Norway is so modern, according to my very "smart" engineer husband. You have underground cables. The overhead ones are ugly and sometimes dangerous when trees fall on them.

BTW, when I was in Australia, I saw some shoes thrown over the power line. The locals told me that it is a sign that drugs are sold. The druggies will know exactly which house to go to.

I suppose all the previous 51 comments have said much the same thing, but this is a beautiful light, with a wonderful overall mood to it.

In fact, all your photos are quite special.
