Local benches

Large parts of Bergen have burned down repeatedly, but has equally repeatedly been rebuilt. In an effort to curb both traffic and enhance the local environment, the authorities and various local organizations have built small parks and recreational areas. And that of course means benches and tables. This is from an area called Stølen.

Of course - a bit of maintenance is still necessary, even if there is cat to keep an eye on things.

These benches have a nice view down hill. A bit of greenery is always welcome near a table for a quick snack.

My benches are not as comfortable looking as these.

Beautiful spot for a bench! I am still amazed at the beauty of your city!

These are such nice and interesting photos. Benches are usually found in such nice serene places and so inviting to stop and relax for a while. I could enjoy gathering my thoughts on those in the neighborhood...I love the perspective of the second photo. I could learn to love this little town, I am sure!

My benches are up at:

That's a good idea. (I would not like clusters of chatting bench-sitters right under my window for very long, though.)
Your close-up give a good feeling of the, uhh, texture of the bench.

Lovely Bergen.

Oh, forgot. I just posted a super-long bench.

I was in Bergen this past June, and noticed the many benches along the water. At one point, I sat on one while waiting for a friend. Bergen is beautiful...so much color and history.

I really enjoy seeing the architecture of Bergen. It's such a beautiful town, I wish I'd had more time to explore when I was there many years ago.

I really like this picture, the soft colors and the richness of detail in the first.
Wonderful post!

Flotte bilder derfra! Ha en flott helg Rune.

Inmari kos hos deg her, Rune!

every city need these places: they are like small lungs for overcrowded human dwellings.

I had missed them! Those benches look like picnic benches, the kind that can be found in gardens, parks, or even along highways.. I would not have choosen such benches for that kind of place.I 'd have taken good comfortable benches with backs , because the way must be easy when you are walking downstairs, but a good bench could be useful when coming UPstairs..

Bergen is such a beautiful and interesting city. The first time I was in Bergen was in 1961. We stayed in the youth hostel for a couple of days. These photos are so great!

To find a little park when out walking is wonderful but to find a bench in the park is fabulous! It's to bad they don't keep them in repair tho.

Small parks are nice to find in a city, this one is lovely. I think I saw the spot in the first shot where the cat was perched, but I couldn't be sure it was there...

Most people in Bergen must be in pretty good physical shape to be always climbing up and down hills.

Bergen must be in an ideal location for it to have been rebuilt several times.
