K is for Kayak

My contribution for K has of course a definition - from Wikipedia as usual:

A kayak is a small human-powered boat. It typically has a covered deck, and a cockpit covered by a spraydeck also known as a skirt. The kayak was used by the native Ainu, Aleut and Eskimo hunters in sub-Arctic regions of northeastern Asia, North America and Greenland. It historically was, and often still is, propelled by a double-bladed paddle in the hands of a sitting paddler. Modern kayaks come in a wide variety of designs and materials for specialized purposes.
And as you can also see: You can have one - or many...

Nice one. My son lives at Sonderborg in Denmark where he is one of the instructors at the kayak club. They do a lot of sea kayaking there.

Husbonden bedrev kajakking på Nordåsen, men nå er det lite av den slags.

Må kunne kunsten de som skal traktere dem,den følger jo kroppens minste bevegelse, men jammen er den elegant der den sklir gjennom vannet.
Fine bilder:o)

We tend to call them canoes in the UK although I'm not sure they are quite the same craft - I remember watching a girl kayaking around an iceberg in the harbour at Qaqortoq.

Ah, yes! And we have two kayaks at our house and they are great for paddling around in the Sound, dogs in tow! Great K for the day, Rune!

Hope you have a great day!

Jeg har ikke helt sansen for så små båter, men flotte bilder kan jeg nyte.

Sikkert en flott og opplevelsesrik måte å komme seg fram i vannet på det der, skulle vært artig med en slik. Pent bilde av den ensome padler.

I am a little out of sorts blogging. I went kayaking last week. Never occurred to me to photograph them.

Even though I've only been kayaking once or twice, I do love it and could go if only I had a kayak and a body of water.

If I were younger I should have liked to go kayaking. It looks so nice and especially if the water is as calm as in that fjord( or sea). Thanks for your visit. Yes The Netherlands is very crowded in the cities, like Rotterdam, Amsterdam and the other big cities. The part where I live is the most crowded part of my country. My village is small and relatively peaceful.

Kayaking is my favourite way to travel over water, a close second to that other k-word: kanoeing.

I have done canoeing, but not this. Perhaps when I'm braver.

Good choice for K - I have friends who kayak, but alas, not me. Looks like great fun.

The perfect K word! And a beautiful photo. Looking at the first photo really emphasizes the power of the sea--the lone kayaker looks pretty insignificant next to it.

Love the style of kayaks - so independent and free. They are quite popular here.

Fab photos! I'd like to try kayaaking but I'm afraid of turning over and drowning! Seriously!

Same idea about two different kayaks one for the sea, one for the river.
Thanks for your visit.

K is also for Kule bilder og Knalle farger :)

I have been kayaking and have enjoyed the low to the water experience. It was a two man kayak and my husband did the paddling while I enjoyed the scenery....
Great K!

Good choice, and great pictures as usual!

I've never been in a kayak, or a canoe. Not sure I want to, either!

I like the yellow one. I tried kayaking once. It's not easy getting from point A to point B under human-power.

ChrisJ said...

That first one is a really good quality photos. I love to see the ripples on the water, even though the kayak is the main focus.

Great choice and great photos. I'd like kayaking as you can do that even when you are alone.

Someway I have the feeling that you would post Kayak. Nice photos! The man was really fully equipped, the mater must be frigid.
