Summer holidays in Norway often means boating among the many small islands and fjords that cover the coast. And it also means picnicking. What is the better then to enter a small island and find that the authorities have made the preparations?
What may look like a piece of wood is in fact a bench.
And one more bench...
And with a small area where you can make a fire and have a grill.
My own interest in benches stems from the site published by PERBS and Kerri and the site published by Malyss. Also, others have shown an interest in the subject, so I have started to take photos of benches when I "stumble" across one. I have not made this into a meme, but if anyone else would like to join me in publishing benches on Fridays, they are of course welcome to do so. Give me a hint and I'll come visiting - summer permitting :-)

like these rustic benches...they fit into the surroundings beautifully. gorgeous captures as always.
These benches are wonderful! They look as if they have arrived naturally somehow!
Grizzled at Riverdaze has a wonderful bench post at present - do have a look: http://riverdaze.blogspot.com
Those islands look like great places to spend an afternoon with friends and family.
It may not be the Ritz of benches but it comes with SHADE! And, hey! That log looks good enough for a bench too in a camping encironment. Another interesting bench adventure! Drop by and see my bench -- I posted it early tonight but YOu have to enlarge it to see the ownderful details. I think you will like it.
that's "environment" -- takes so long for your page to load on my old computer that I forgot to check my typing. It's also "wonderful" details. sigh
A very nice grouping of benches, and I really like the firepit. I can almost taste the roasted marshmellows.
My bench is up.
Benches in a place like that really make you feel welcome.
I wonder when the wood split.
My wooden bench today is the weaker cousin of your log bench family.
P.S. I am a fan of

The last two posts are scenic spot benches with FA's interesting commentary on the possibility (or not) of praying and meditating while sitting on them.
Rune, would you please return for a minute to answer a question? Thanks.
"Wild" benches, as simple as possible, that match perfectly to the place they are.
I like the old wood, used by the time and the weather. It has a special texture, saying : "I lived a long time, but I'm still there..."
I want to thank Dina and others who guide us to other blogs with benches -- it has been a blessing!
What a wonderful landscape, Rune, and what a nice idea about the benches! I'm also looking for benches, but I'm still searching :)
Here in Austria they are too wet at the moment, too much rain and thunderstorms!
Have a nice weekend!
God helg! :)
I just read Dina's comment with a smile. Will have to go there. I like the tree trunks and wonder what shore they washed away from.
These are postcard perfect!
These are GREAT!! I've joined you and posted a bench(kind of) for this week. Posted one last Friday but forgot to mention it! I'm so glad you are posting benches on Friday...even thought it is not a specific meme...I think it is FUN FUN FUN!!
I like how you enlarged the pictures for better viewing. Saves trouble from magnifying it. Very convenient to the readers and viewers.
Great contribution Rune! What if these old bench could talk? :-)
RennyBA's Terella
Awesome photos, RunE. It appears as you have the right combination of a great eye, great camera, and great subject matter.
Thanks for visiting my benches. And thanks to Dina for recommending that I visit you!
I'll be back.
I'm actually about six months behind, as the Christmas Wreath is from this past Christmas. Sooner or later I'll get caught up!
It's great to have benches that fit into the landscape so perfectly. I never would have guessed the tree didn't just fall there!
Looks like lots of lovely places to sit and enjoy the sights.
I've been looking for benches to post but all I can find are very uninteresting cement block ones. Of course I don't get out of the car too much, so that's probably my problem.
These are extremely rustic looking. You could easily be fooled in thinking they were just natural.
A lovely set of natural wooden benches.
So wonderful, the scenes are fantastic Rune.
I like that bench!! It is so worn, and I wonder how many people have rested there.
How creative.....your photos are lovely as usual...
