Bench of the Week (14)

For this week's Bench of the Week I have found some more examples from the centre of Bergen. Back to back with a parked bicycle as companion.

From the other side we can see that it is a small square, called Tårnplass.

Once it was used for parking cars, but not anymore. Now you can park people.

My own interest in benches stems from the site published by PERBS and Kerri and the site published by Malyss. Also, others have shown an interest in the subject, so I have started to take photos of benches when I "stumble" across one. I have not made this into a meme, but if anyone else would like to join me in publishing benches on Fridays, they are of course welcome to do so. Give me a hint and I'll come visiting.

PS For "reasons of summer" I have not been able to visit all those who commented my last bench-post. I'll try to make amends later on :-)

And once you've parked yourself in one of those benches you're in for an interesting ride of people-watching.

Very cool ones. Love the almost golden brown color and glossy wood. Just perfect. I have my bench shots up now. Would you care to sit on them?

I forgot to check out Pacey's bench so came back to get the link and before I did that, I changed the time on my bench and it is now up.

My bench is up.

Interesting to see your bench in all the different perspectives. I'd love to park myself there about now.

Spacedlaw in Italy has a marvelous old bench posted today at http://spacedlaw.blogspot.com/.

Flott at du koser deg i ferien. :) Snart, om en drøy uke blir det ferie for flere av oss.

Den benken har jeg sittet og spist skillingsboller på noen ganger gitt.

Benches and bikes= good mix!
It seems that this double-back-bench is more a two-benches-put back-to-back.
Anyway the wood has a beautyful color, and the place is well choosen: on one side, husbands can wait for their wifes during the time they're shoping at Bettina, and on the other, there's the living spectacle of the square.
Hope you're enjoying your summer time!

Ah, a nice traditional bench style. Ones I usually see in the bigger cities such as this one... nice to see. I would sit there as watch the world go by...

I hope you're having a wonderful summer. I like the idea of having room to park people - rather than the ubiquitous car.

Det er gode benker å sitte på for å kvile beina etter ein intensiv handletur:)

What a great place to park people (instead of cars!)

I have a bench pic from Mariestad, Sweden (was thinking of you :-). I might join you, but I'm not as pro as you guys.

Flotte bilder Rune. God helg!

Lovely glossy wood on the bench!

I would be sitting facing the clothes shop and wondering whether I should go in and buy something! Or sitting looking at my purchases and wondering if I have spent too much money ...

My bench post is now up - a little later this time!

Hi Rune! I think I know this place, but it looks a bit different nowadays... ;)

Blogtrotter is showing some sights of the most northern capital city in the world. Enjoy and have a great weekend and summer! Don't forget, it's short... ;))

Really nice looking benches. Comfortable and clean. Actually, as I think about it now, Bergen, even at the center, was always clean.

Hope you are keeping well and enjoying some northern sunshine.

Nice benches, Rune. Parking people is always nicer than parking cars, don't you think?

Have a nice summer (I'm counting the days to start my summer holidays. Still one month to go)

(*sigh*)

Hi Rune! Your bench looks very comfortable. I also like the bench in Bryggen behind the shops. We sat there for some time in May, 2005. Soon a group of giggling Japanese women joined us. They were especially interested in my brother- in- law and surrounded him, taking photos of him. So that bench is now famous in Japan too.

Wow! That bench looks like a super comfortable place to sit, relax and people watch!
