Q is for Quay in ABC Wednesday

According to Wikipedia:

A quay, is a wharf or bank where ships and other vessels are loaded. A quay may be constructed parallel or perpendicular to the bank of a waterway.
Right - so above is an example of a larger variety with two cruise ships at Skoltegrunnskaien in Bergen.

Or you might walk a bit further in and find where the sailing vessel "Statsraad Lehmkuhl" is moored at Festningskaien.

However, quays come in all sizes and shapes. This is an old quay that once served a small ferry at Alvøen, in the outskirts of Bergen.

The ferry served between Alvøen and Bjorøyhavn, on the small island of Bjorøy, just outside Bergen. The connection has now been replaced by a sub-sea tunnel.

Or you might prefer the very small, floating variety... (also at Bjorøyhavn)

Today's post is an entry in the fourth round of ABC Wednesday, the meme initiated by Denise Nesbitt.

These are the kind of photos I always like so much. They could make a perfect calendar or photobook. I would buy it like I bought photobooks in the past. Have a wonderful week.

I'm originally from Newfoundland - an island province - so I love photos that include boats, water and quays.

Mange fine kaiar her.

Great examples of the different types of quays. Beautiful ships, too.

Of course I should of had a beautiful Quay. I should of had gorgeous clear crisp harbour views too like yours. No, I scheduled the wrong letter. I think I need a day off.

Quality shots! I've always loved the waterfront, regardless of what inhabited it - the big ships are so majestic and the run-abouts spell fun. Lovely!

Being an "in-lander" here, seeing all these pictures of the water and boats of all shapes and sizes all makes me want to go sailing on something, anything! Ocean liner, yacht, sail boat, little canoe even -maybe -just to see what it's like, ya know.

What beautiful clear and sharp photos. The weather must be very good and the air seems so clear, which is hard to get in Taiwan.

Oh just wonderful, I am sailing off now (only in my mind).

A wonderful series of shots that makes me nostalgic for the sea!

Beautyful variation around a word.. I especially like your two first pictures, they bring back a lot of memories to me. First time I discovered Norway, I was on a boat, and I always think about that moment with pleasure; And I'm glad to see the "Statsraad Lehmkuhl", as fresh as a young boy, and always so beautyful. Thank you so much for that good moment of sea breeze...

I WAS THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And saw "Statsraad Lehmkuhl"!!!
I LOVE BERGEN!!

On the first photo, you may find ex-«Ocean Monarch» (now Portuguese «Princess Daphne») on the left and, on the right, «ASTORIA», now laid at Barcelona, with an uncertain future...
THANK YOU ERIN!!!!
