Benches not on the run

My Internet-friend Paulie has just celebrated her birthday. She collects benches. So what would be more appropriate than sending her a couple? So I went looking. Here is what I found in the neighbourhood.

These were standing outside the local shopping centre - just waiting to be used.

They even had their own litter bin!

Only - the owners loved them so themselves that they have chained them to the concrete. I hope she will be satisfied with a picture. Happy (belated ) birthday)!

A nice shot and it looks too heavy to carry away regardless of the big chain!

Great benches, really pretty ones too, not the horrible boring ones we get here outside grocery stores, with gum on them ( yes I was the idiot that sat on gum) I hope paulie likes her benches, I'm sure she wil :0)

Good shots of the benches... it is true, I have seen them get up in the middle of the night and walk away, hence the chain and lock!! It's for their own good! Tsk tsk...

K, my friend, please note, the dismissal of my blog and the added new one... thanks...

Rust is marvelous. No matter how hard you try the metal will rust, eventually.

Nice benches and how considerate to place a bin nearby.

Thank you for the nice birthday present! How thoughtful of you to search for a bench or two for me. I really enjoyed seeing them. The intricate ironwork is beautiful! I suppose they put in front of stores so that when you are loaded down with packages and waiting for someone to pick you up, you have a place to rest.

I will link them to my bench blog so that my friend in France can enjoy them also and Kerri too.

Thanks for being so thoughtful with your gift for my birthday. It was just perfect!

Nice looking, solid benches, but they look pretty hefty to me. Do people really steal benches?? -- perhaps for the metal?

This chain would have no effect during the riots in Oslo last week. Love or not love.
The owner had to remove them.

Flotte bilder. :)
DER har jeg gått forbi mange ganger,
men aldri satt meg ned.... ;)
Heller aldri tenkt på å forevige dem med ett knips.
Du ser flotte motiver overalt.
Veldig bra. :)

people steal all sorts of things, don't they!

Maybe they're chained so they don't get moved from the sidewalk.
