R is for Road in ABC Wednesday

A road is an identifiable route, way or path between places.[1] Roads are typically smoothed, paved, or otherwise prepared to allow easy travel;[2] though they need not be, and historically many roads were simply recognizable routes without any formal construction or maintenance.[3

All this according to Wikipedia.

So it may be something like this one - an old gravel road leading into the mountains surrounding Bergen

Or it may be a more modern edition, with a dual carriageway. Luckily on a Sunday morning in November.

It may lead into a tunnel,

It may lead onto a bridge,

Or it might lead to a one hour queue outside one of the oldest cities in the UK on the hottest day in a hundred years...

Today's post is part of the the third round of ABC Wednesday. The founder, Denise Nesbitt, has changed the rules to make the system more practical. There is now a no-comment blog where you can post a copy or short version of your post with a link-back to your original post for the full version and comments. Scanning through this no-comment blog will give you lots of Rare Rs. She has also set up a site where you can log on via Mr. Linky if you want to do that.

A great selection of roads - I'm sure you can guess which one I prefer.

I like the first road. Whenever I see a road like that I wonder where it goes.

Wow! you've taken us from a country path to busy highways! Great sequence, but I have to say I'd like to travel on the grassy one at the beginning. :D

Even your roads are spectacular. Mine's up, I just can't sign into linky again. Am I the only one.

That road in your first photo looks a little tight for a car, but it is definitely intriguing to see where it leads.

What a wonderful collection of ROAD photos.
I really think that I prefer the first ROAD photo though.

Nice selection of roads, but my favourite is the first photo. A peaceful getaway from civilization as we know it.

Road is a good choice. Nice variety. I grew up on a "dirt" road even here in Florida (we have a lot of dirt roads still today when you get away from the cities). Anything not on the "dirt" roads were called "hard" roads. Dirt and hard. Not paved. Just hard. :)

Guess I always look for the road least traveled, Rune. That first one suits me fine. :)
Good choice for ABC.

I must admit I do prefer the first one too.

From the path to the motorway, on bridges or through tunnels...a great selection of your favorite subjects with various angles of view!
And I remember what you told about the number of tunnels in Norway!!!!

Fantastisk R-post!

only the first one is enticing - like a path leading to the hobbit's house!

I love the first one! It makes me want to go there and ride along it.

Paved roads are not so attractive to me, especially when there is heavy traffic. Good post though! I like the way you told it!

A clever use of R and your photos were especially well done to make me actually feel a pull down the road or stuck in traffic in the heat. Nice work, as always, Rune.
Happy Wednesday!
