With the back towards the sunset in Sky Watch

Experienced photographers recommend that one should not only look at the sunset - one should from time to time turn around and look the other way. One should also wait a while after the sun has set. This I tried the other night.

And this is what I saw: A nice reflection in the windows of my neighbour's house - but not only that. The clouds to the south were covered in a pinkish/purple light with a strange structure bowing upwards. And the structure? It was a rainbow hit by the coloured light against the clouds.

You don't believe me? Then look below. I turned 90 degrees east and here is the other end of the rainbow.

But then I turned back. The strange light was gone. The rainbow was gone. Only the reflections were left. Though not without its own splendour.

WOW! All 3 are gorgeous. And what a nice catch in that window. You need to give your neighbor a print of your picture. I mean, if you like your neighbor, that is.

Happy Sky Watch!

EXCELLENT pictures! I especially love the first one. That reflection with the colorful sky behind it is just wonderful.

I got a sunset rainbow a week or two ago, though just one leg. And really hard to know what it is unless you KNOW. Yours is wonderful.

Great stuff - I've been away all day so not looked at any skywatch pics until now - the reflected sunset is excellent. I'm not sure I've a neighbours house I could point my canera at to get such a pic and I can't remember many late evenig rainbows - so glad you captured these.

Hi Rune, Happy Skywatching! Looks like you have a lot of watching if you can see all 75 of your viewers.

But it is worth it! I just love those skys reflected in the window.
Thank you for peeking in at my Gutemala clouds.

The view through the window looks like the house is on fire, burning swiftly! The last shot looks like the fire is dying down, like at a campfire with just the coals glowing.

Now that night time rainbow is something unique and I am glad to have had the opportunity to see it through your eyes. Thank you!

Very nice series here Runee. I also liked yur Rowan Berry stroll. The colours are amazing.
Reminds me that spring day is just over a week away for us. We have had such a warm winter that I have seldom had to dress warmly - but that can be deceptive, because we can still get snow in the mountains in October.
