Goose in the winter?

Around here we are accustomed to the sight of geese leaving us in August. Some single specimens might of course stay the winter, but I was a bit surprised when i caught this one the other day. It is not easy to see in this picture (I was a bit far off), but it is right in the middle.

I have enlarged the middle section so that is a bit easier to see. If you click on the picture it can be enlarged further.

Of course - it might be something entirely different.

First, that's a very pretty picture. Secondly, I would be shocked to see a goose left behind here for the winter, it would never survive for there would be no food source, whatsoever. It would become the food.
I suppose some geese species are more winter hardy than others.

Lovely picture. Love the reflections in the water. And yes, I spotted the goose in the middle of the picture then scrolled down and saw it better in the bottom picture. I hope it will survive the winter.

The reflections in the water.
Is splendid your photograph, with the nuances of coffee, green and light blue they dominate in harmony stressing entire the landscape in beautiful subject for postcard

I think it may be a Heron and not a goose. We have lots of Canada Geese here for the winter, they dont bother to fly south in the winter around here, I will try for a picture of them.

It very well might be a heron, though I think it would look slightly different. I was bit away.
