Bergen in November

November is usually rainy, windy and grey in these parts. But not today. I had occasion to go down town in connection with my work, and used the opportunity to take a couple of pictures and at the same time test a new lens for my main camera.

The first shows what is called "Festplassen" ("Celebration square" in my translation), taken from across a small lake called "Lille Lungegaardsvann" (or "Smålunger'n" in the local dialect). A bit too green around the corners to be November 19?

The second shows the "new" Town Hall. it was built in the 70's and was once voted the ugliest building in Bergen by the local newspaper.

My Grandchildren's Great Grandfather came from Norway. His name was Andjus or Andrew Fedje. He was born in 1898 in Norway...but died in North Dakota, USA. His father was named Sjur Fedje! Small world after all.

Thank you for your greeting!

You mentioned the name Fedje. That is an island not so very far from here, about 50km as the crow flies. This being Norway, you'll have to pass about 15 tunnels, 10 bridges and take 1 ferry.

My mother came from one of the neighbouring municipalities (Radøy), and my father from one of the others (Lindås).

Keep it up!
