Changing of the guard

Hans Majestets kongens garde (HMKG - an English translation would be: His Majesty The King's Guard) is the Royal Family's lifeguard. The guard was started in 1856 as a guard consisting of Norwegian soldiers guarding the Union king in Stockholm. It was moved to Oslo (then called Christiania in 1888). The uniform has remained virtually unchanged since 1860.

As this changing of the guard shows - even Norwegians can look and behave like real soldiers.
