Norway has been known as "The land of the fjords". In many ways it may also be called "The land of the bridges". How else are we to cross the fjords in this age of the automobile? The bridge on the picture is called "Sotrabroen" and connects Bergen with the island of Lillesotra. It was built in 1971 and is today considered way to small for its purpose. A new dual carriage-way bridge or sub-sea tunnel is being considered at the moment.
